About
A "Pub Crawl" of Friar's Bush Graveyard is a guided experience that explores one of Belfast's most ancient burial grounds. This historic graveyard contains the resting places of many inn and tavern keepers, spirit grocers, corner pub owners, and distillers from early Belfast.
The guide shares the long and rich social history of the city's welcoming hostelries, recounting the stories of those who ran some of Belfast's oldest pubs, including White's Tavern, McHugh's Bar, Robinson's Bar, and Lavery's. The tour also features tales of a publican lost by shipwreck, the Seaplane of Albion Lane, the court appearances of a hapless Frenchman, and the sorry story of "The Elephant and the Inkpot."
After this entertaining journey through history, the group retires to the open fire of the neighbouring pub, The Jeggy Nettle, where complimentary Belfast baps and crisps are provided, with the option to purchase drinks.
*No alcohol is permitted in the graveyard.
