About
The Juke Yard is a welcoming community gardening and outdoor wellbeing session held on Saturday mornings in East Belfast. This small but vibrant urban garden has been transformed from a once-blank concrete yard into a shared green space where people come together to grow plants, learn new skills and enjoy time outdoors.
Sessions are relaxed and informal, offering opportunities to garden, plant, build and care for the space at a gentle, unhurried pace. Participants can take part in a range of seasonal activities including planting flowers and herbs, supporting biodiversity and creating wildlife-friendly features. No prior gardening experience is needed — curiosity and willingness to join in are all that's required.
The Juke Yard provides a chance to slow down, reconnect with nature and enjoy the wellbeing benefits of spending time outdoors alongside others. Whether actively gardening or simply enjoying the fresh air, the space encourages connection, confidence and shared ownership of a growing community environment.
Delivered by Our Social Space, a Belfast-based charity, The Juke Yard is developed in partnership with The Conservation Volunteers (TCV), with support from local community funders.
