About
The trail begins at the entrance steps into the manicured gardens, where visitors can walk around and find 10 delicately hand-painted tiles prompting gentle quiet moments of reflection and mindfulness. Inspired by the importance of gentle beings and gentle spaces, the trail invites visitors to slow down, explore mindfully, and connect with their surroundings in a calm and creative way.
As visitors journey through the beautiful castle gardens, they will find artistic elements, thoughtful prompts, and moments designed to encourage reflection, curiosity and quiet enjoyment. Blending art, nature and storytelling, Wilbur's Trail offers a meaningful and memorable way to experience the Belfast Castle garden. It is perfect for families and visitors of all ages seeking a more mindful outdoor adventure.
Wilbur is a small warty pig based on the real Visayan Warty Pigs who live at the top of Belfast Zoo. Visayan Warty Pigs are one of the critically endangered species of pig in the world. This project was created and illustrated by local artist Corrina Askin, and is supported through The Big Ideas Initiative and special assistance from Belfast Tool Library.
